Biohazard Laboratory Practice

Full subject description

If you work with potentially hazardous biological agents or material (including GMOs and imported biosecurity controlled goods), you must complete Biohazard Laboratory Practice before you commence work, then every three years thereafter as a minimum requirement. This module does not replace hands-on training on specific procedures involving these biologicals, or face-to-face inductions and behavioural training relating to containment facilities. This additional training must also be completed in order for you to be deemed competent to work independently with hazardous biologicals, or permitted to enter certified biocontainment facilities unsupervised. If you are unsure what additional training you require, please contact your supervisor or the Biorisk Management Team.
